When a virus makes us forget everything, it’s LT-21, the new series from OCS

OCS is broadcasting this evening the first episodes of “LT-21”, a dystopian series led by Léonie Simaga and Arnaud Valois, which follows a couple of doctors who have to deal with the arrival of a strange epidemic.

What would happen to our society if all human beings lost their memory? It is this thorny question that LT-21, the new OCS Signature series available from this Thursday, October 12 on the platform, will attempt to answer.

Directed and written by Mélisa Godet, this fiction of 8 episodes of 26 minutes depicts a humanity grappling with a pandemic which, if it does not kill, deprives individuals of their memory. Asia (Léonie Simaga), infectious disease specialist, and Gabriel (Arnaud Valois), virology researcher, a couple for 15 years, are held in a hospital that has become a quarantine center, under the control of the army. They continue research while caring for patients.

But when Gabriel falls ill after taking all the risks to save an infected child, Asia is forcibly exfiltrated to an island, the base of Operation Heredis. She is then forced to continue her research in a secret laboratory, while Gabriel, remaining on the continent, has already forgotten everything about their love.

A modern dystopia

By depriving patients of their memory, the LT-21 virus, which gives its name to the series, affects what constitutes human beings and our society. Life, history and experience are all elements that make the world what it is today. Without memory, the virus kills our social structures symbolically and on a large scale.

At their level, Asia and Gabriel will experience the choices that society must face. Is it better to forget everything together, start from scratch or remember at all costs? What if forgetting was a second chance, a necessary evil?

To portray the two main characters, Mélisa Godet, who had the idea for this scenario during the Covid epidemic, called on Léonie Simaga (La Flamme, I promise you) and Arnaud Valois. The face of the latter is perhaps not unknown to you since the actor notably played one of the main roles in 120 beats per minute, a film by Robin Campillo, which won the César for best film in 2018.

He will also soon slip into the shoes of Yves Saint-Laurent in the series Kaiser Karl for Disney+. At their side, we can find Aurélia Petit (Saint-Omer), Patrick Bouchitey (The Demons of Jesus), Iliana Belkhadra (The School of Life), Léo Angel and Gaspard Meier.

This Thursday, October 12, find the 8 episodes of LT-21 on OCS. The series is broadcast every Thursday evening from 9 p.m. on OCS Max.
