Your smartphone invites you to uninstall the application as quickly as possible Google ? It’s a bug. Explanations.

At the start of the week, we discovered that Google Play Protect tended to consider certain Samsung applications as a threat. Today, it is the turn of Huawei terminals (but also Honor and Vivo) to alert their owners about the dangerousness of an application installed on their smartphone: Google.

Security alerts at Huawei, Honor and Vivo regarding… Google

According to the information gleaned by Bleeding Computer, various smartphones (and tablets) from the Huawei brand have recently tended to display a security alert against the Google application. The latter would be considered a “ security threat » by the terminals in question.

The alert message indicates that Google appears to be malware, and therefore may put the user at risk. It is the Huawei Otimizer application which is at the origin of this message, which also invites those affected to immediately uninstall the American giant’s application.

A false alert, and a real bug (now fixed)

However, according to various computer security experts, this notification is actually a false alert. This was indicated in particular by the security group Avast, specifying in particular that the Google quick search box was mistakenly considered as malicious software on Huawei brand smartphones.

On the Google side, we explain that “ This security notification was not triggered by Play Protect and appears to come from a device that is not Play Protect certified and does not have access to the official download of Google’s core apps from Play “.

On the Huawei side, we have already indicated the procedure to follow to get rid of the bug. To do this, go to Applications, then to Optimizer.

There, it is necessary to Clear the application cache, which should allow the smartphone and the Google application to (re)work in perfect harmony.
