Where can I get the QR code for CovPass and Corona-Warn-App?

Where can I get the QR code for the CovPass digital vaccination card or for the Corona-Warn-App? NextPit explains how to get the QR code. We will also show you how to set up the two apps with the QR code and how it all works with the booster vaccinations!

There are three ways to get the QR code for the digital vaccination card:

This is what it looks like, the note of desire! If you scan the QR code with CovPass or the Corona-Warn-App, you have a digital vaccination certificate to take with you. / © NextPit

Option 1: Obtain the QR code from the doctor or vaccination center

The doctor or the vaccination center where you received the vaccination or the second vaccination can issue you the code later. In any case, call the respective doctor or vaccination center beforehand to see if everything is already prepared. A call to the Berlin vaccination hotline shows that it is currently not working – neither with the issue directly after the vaccination nor with the subsequent printing of the codes. We are still waiting for final information from the Senate.

If you haven’t received your second vaccination yet, then it should work very easily in the future: In theory, you will then receive a piece of paper with the QR code together with the second sticker in the old, yellow vaccination card. You then simply have to scan this using the Corona-Warn-App or the CovPass-App and can leave the old, yellow vaccination card at home.

Option 2: Have the QR code generated in the pharmacy

For many vaccinated people, the second option is probably the easier one: you can have the QR code generated in many pharmacies. As the official portal of German pharmacists reports, this will be possible from June 14th.

Incidentally, there is no legal obligation for pharmacies to take part in the campaign. Starting next week, however, you will be able to find pharmacies near you on the mein-apothekenmanager.de website that will issue you with a QR code when you present your yellow vaccination card.

pharmacy search

Currently you can only search for pharmacies that offer rapid tests on mein-apothekenmanager. In the future you will also find pharmacies here that will issue you the QR code for the digital vaccination card. / © NextPit

Option 3: Wait and get QR code by letter

Unless the plane to Malle is waiting, option 3 might be the easiest. If you have already been vaccinated twice and have not yet received a code for the second vaccination, then this should arrive in the mail in the coming days or weeks; at least if you were vaccinated in a vaccination center.

Booster vaccination: No, the proof is not only valid after 14 days

The vaccination certificates for the first and second corona vaccination are valid after 14 days. This means that if you get vaccinated you cannot travel to another country on the same day. At the end of the 14 days you will then have a valid vaccination certificate that corresponds to the 3G and 2G rules.

After almost 2 years of Corona, however, new regulations apply in many places. The so-called 2G+ regulation requires you to either have a valid rapid test from one of the test centers in your city or a current booster vaccination. You can usually get this refresher, also known as a “booster vaccination”, from your family doctor or a vaccination center without any problems, and there you will also receive another vaccination certificate for your Corona-War app or the CovPass app.

The good news: These certificates are valid immediately and you don’t have to wait 14 days! As with the first two vaccinations, you can then simply scan the QR code into your Corona app and you already have the valid vaccination certificate.

Setting up the apps is self-explanatory. The CovPass app provides a brief introduction and educates users about privacy. A short guide to setting up CovPass can be found here:

And of course the topic of corona vaccination is a highly emotional one. Whether you get vaccinated is up to you, and anyone who doesn’t want to believe in the existence of Covid-19 is welcome to do so. We would like to ask you to remain factual and on topic in the comments.
