which best ventilates your living room?

We were hot, too hot. So we wondered if a fan with classic blades would do the trick to ventilate a room or if we should invest in a product almost seven times more expensive. Check out our comparison video.

It has been hot this summer. Really hot. Faced with heat waves, many people have equipped themselves with a fan to ventilate and cool their homes. And at Frandroid, we asked ourselves a very simple question: do we have to pay several hundred euros to have a high-performance device? With this in mind, we have therefore made a video where we compare the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde at 699 euros with a Rowenta Turbo Silence Extreme worth more or less 115 euros depending on the offers.

For this video, we analyzed two elements: air speed (with an anemometer) and the level of decibels emitted to assess noise pollution. The measurements were each time taken at 50 cm from the product.

If it stands out for its refined and very refined design, the Dyson device is less efficient than the much less expensive product from Rowenta. It projects the air more slowly (and therefore less far) and emits more noise. This applies both to measurements at maximum power and with night mode on.

The real added value of the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde

Should we ignore the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde? It depends on your needs. In reality, this device is mainly intended for people wishing to purify the air in their homes. Integrated filters allow it to block formaldehyde molecules. It is a polluting gas (mixture of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen) regularly present in housing, because it lodges in paints, mattresses, plywood panels, cleaning products, toys, etc.

The high price of this product comes mainly from the fact that it is intended to clean up your place of life or work. Moreover, it is a connected product that you can control from a smartphone. For people allergic to pollen, beware, this is not necessarily a recommended purchase. If you get used to very filtered air in your home, it may be more difficult for you to experience the shock with the outside as soon as you leave your home.

Finally, if you just want to ventilate a room, a classic fan with blades like this one from Rowenta will do just fine. Also, if you want to connect this kind of product, you can invest in a smart plug and configure the device to work with a smart assistant.
