Freshly announced by their manufacturer, the Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra rely, to stand out, on a careful design, a promise of seven-year software updates and on a set of functions brought together under the Galaxy AI banner.
Generative photo editing, image enhancement suggestions, instant call translation, automatic document synthesis, universal search for online items, transcription of voice notes in several voices… The functions provided by Galaxy AI are numerous. And unlike Google, which chose, when announcing its Pixel 8, also equipped with functions linked to artificial intelligence, to reserve them for its newcomers, Samsung opts for a more generous policy. The South Korean in fact indicates that previous smartphones will be upgraded.
For the moment, the list of eligible terminals is nevertheless short: it brings together the Galaxy S23 series (Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra), including the Galaxy S23 FE available for a few weeks in Europe. The 2023 folding models, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, are also affected. Samsung announces the availability of these functions on these six devices just before summer, i.e. at the end of the first half of 2024. On the other hand, these smartphones are not affected by its new Android update policy for seven years.
