Ergonomics is not the strong point of ChatGPT currently, but that may well change in the coming days with all these upcoming changes.
No vacation for OpenAI, which continues its hard work on the development of ChatGPT. The company led by Sam Altman has just announced the upcoming deployment of several new features aimed at “improve the ChatGPT experience”. These should be available next week.
Sample Prompts and Suggested Responses
The first novelty described by OpenAI is what the company calls “example prompts”. When you start a new chat with ChatGPT, the service will offer examples to help you start the conversation.
“A blank page can be intimidating”explains OpenAI, which was probably based on user feedback or from statistics that Internet users had trouble getting into a discussion with the conversational agent from scratch.
The second feature that will make its appearance concerns the suggested answers. “Go further in one click. ChatGPT now offers you relevant ways to continue your conversation », explains the firm. We don’t have any more details at this time, perhaps it is a function relying on the Bing search engine to return users to relevant web results, as Bard does with Google.
GPT-4 by default!
ChatGPT Plus subscribers can choose between two language models for their interactions with the chatbot: GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 (non-paying users do not have access to GPT-4). By default, the option is set to GPT-3.5, which is less efficient. The problem is that when starting a new chat, the GPT-3.5 model is always selected by default. With the update, ChatGPT will remember the previously used model and will not automatically revert to GPT-3.5 with each new chat.
Again for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, the beta version of the Code Interpreter plugin will allow you to submit several files to the chatbot to download for analysis. ChatGPT can then use them to generate answers relevant to your needs. Supported file formats have not been specified.
Keyboard shortcuts for even more productivity
You know it only too well if you are used to using ChatGPT, the platform requires a new connection to its account every two weeks, whether you have used the service during this period of time or not. OpenAI ends this restriction and promises that we will now be “welcomed by a much more welcoming page”.
Finally, ChatGPT finally becomes compatible with keyboard shortcuts, which allow you to perform certain actions more quickly, without having to navigate within the interface to find a feature. Two shortcuts have already been unveiled:
- ⌘ or Ctrl + Shift + ; to copy the last block of code generated by ChatGPT
- ⌘ or Ctrl + / to see the full list
Unfortunately, OpenAI does not mention a draft function, a function that we really liked when we got started with Google Bard, which allows you to choose between three different responses to a prompt to choose the one that suits you best. better and meets our needs the most.
