The group of modders Revolution Team is releasing a remaster of Vice City of his own, just to offer us a cure for nostalgia “ truly new generation “.
Absolute fans of the original game released in 2002, the Russians from Revolution Team intend to offer a “ definitive version that the title deserves “. As a reminder, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition (including GTA III, Vice City And San Andreas) developed in 2021 by Rockstar, had a catastrophic launch to say the least. A treatment which was clearly not to the taste of these modders, who wanted to correct the situation by themselves to Vice City.
A Rage engine to revisit Vice City
THE GTA: Vice City original was for many a great title in its time, with its 80s atmosphere and its iconic city inspired by Miami. It’s no surprise that Vice City is therefore the scene of the upcoming and highly anticipated GTA 6. Revolution Team, a group of Russian modders, is one of the die-hard fans of this title released more than 20 years ago.
Known for numerous projects around the latter, the team recently announced the release of a “Next-Gen” edition of Vice City, via a trailer.
To justify this “Next-Gen” name, the group indicated that its mod represents a global modification based on the RAGE engine of GTA IV. The remastered version of Vice City in Rockstar’s trilogy uses the Unreal Engine for rendering. But the mechanics and animations (quite dated) still went through RenderWare, already present in the original game twenty years earlier.
80s, vices and neon lights
GTA Vice City Next Gen Edition from Revolution Team intends to retain the missions of the original game, but offer it a real graphical facelift. Better textures for vehicles and characters, neon lights reflected on city buildings and other similar improvements are on the program.
To give Rockstar what belongs to it, Revolution Team will however integrate elements from the definitive edition of the remastered trilogy into its mod. Including in particular the improved version of Vice City, as well as the different weapons wielded by Tommy Vercetti.
