A recent study shows that the Samsung Galaxy S22released only a few weeks ago, has already lost half of its resale value.

It is commonly accepted that the price of the iPhone remains particularly high on the second-hand market, but what about the various Android smartphones?

The iPhone 13 loses only 16% of its value six months after its release

This is the website SellCellspecializing in the resale of smartphones, which released the calculator and compared the discounts of the various models released in recent months, namely the Samsung Galaxy S22, available since February 2022, and the Google Pixel 6, launched in October 2021, with the Apple’s iPhone 13 and its variants, available for their part since last September.

The first lesson to be drawn from this analysis is that, indeed, the iPhone remains a very well valued smartphone, even six months after its launch. On average, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro lost between 18-21% of their value, depending on their condition. The iPhone 13 Pro Max, in its 128 GB version, is only offered between 4 to 6% cheaper second-hand and should ensure a nice jackpot for its users during resale.

Better still, the depreciation of the standard iPhone 13 is currently decreasing, and the device has recently regained a few tens of euros compared to the beginning of the year 2022. This situation is not new and had already arisen with the iPhone 12, also in great demand at the time.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 see their value halved in just a few weeks

The lucky owners of a Samsung Galaxy S22 will not be able to expect such a nice sum. Despite its three months of availability, the latest from the Korean manufacturer has already lost 47% of its value on the second-hand market.

No model escapes the rule, not even the very expensive Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the spearhead of the range offered by the brand which is trading between 830 and 880 dollars, depending on its external appearance, against a price of $1,599 in store. The discount is therefore close to 55%.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro and Google Pixel 6 don’t do much better, with an average depreciation of around 44.3% across all configurations offered by the American company.
