Since August 1, 2022, the Macron bonus has been revalued for the year 2022. For certain companies, it thus goes from 2,000 to 6,000 euros. But who can benefit from it?
This will relieve the wallet of the French. Discussed in the Council of Ministers then in the National Assembly and finally in the Senate, the Macron bonus was renewed in 2022 under a new name: the value-sharing bonus. Coming into force on an exceptional basis, it is now part of the bill on purchasing power presented by Elisabeth Borne last July, to enable the French to cope with inflation. Made permanent, it has also been increased since August 1, 2022. Paid by the employer to employees, it is not a state bonus, but an optional and voluntary company bonus. But who can benefit from it?
Whether you are an employee, apprentice, temporary worker or public official, you are eligible for the Macron bonus if your income meets certain conditions. Thus, you must receive remuneration that does not exceed three times the amount of the SMIC, which was also revalued on August 1, 2022. To cope with inflation, which reached 6.1% for the month of July over one year, the government decreed this automatic revaluation which follows that of 2.65% from last May. The minimum wage therefore suffered an increase of 2.01% and is now of €1,329.06 net per month for full time. For its part, the hourly minimum wage goes from 8.58 euros to 8.76 euros.
What revaluation for the Macron bonus?
Revalued, the Macron bonus sees its ceiling increase from 2,000 to 6,000 euros for companies that have signed a profit-sharing agreement or those with fewer than 50 employees. However, the increase in the ceiling will not be so drastic for all companies. Indeed, those with more than 50 employees and who have not signed a profit-sharing agreement will see theirs go from 1,000 to 3,000 euros. In other cases, the amount of the Macron bonus may reach 8,000 euros. Indeed, an employer who has already paid the bonus this year will be able to pay it again from August 1, 2022, until December 31, 2022. Thus, this will make a bonus of 8,000 euros over the year, if we count the 2,000 euros of the old version and the 6,000 euros now allocated.
