Eva Green tells us about the most perilous scene in The Three Musketeers Milady. A training session could have ended badly…
In theaters since Wednesday December 13, 2023, The Three Musketeers: Milady promises a deluge of action and twists and turns. Presented as a French blockbuster, the actresses and actors were very involved in giving shape to this film, whether it was the upstream preparation or the immersive action scenes desired by its director, Martin Bourboulon. .
One scene in particular gave the actors a hard time, in this case Eva Green and François Civil. A scene… fiery!
“Francis [Civil] revealed this to the press… Why did he do this?”, jokes Eva Green at our microphone (see our video interview above, or the long version in audio podcast). “We were rehearsing a fight in the second part and I was a little in the heat of the action! I pierced his jogging pants with my sword and it was indeed very, very close. I was very scared, but he remained impassive.
Fortunately, there were no injuries. When we actually did the scene, there was fire around etc. So we had to be 300% focused. We weren’t dubbed, it was really in a sequence shot.”
And added: “There’s a lot of prep work that goes into a fight like that. I didn’t want to disappoint the stuntmen, who gave so much time and were very encouraging. I’m a little clumsy and they really helped me gain a certain physical but also mental strength for the character. So I wanted to make them proud. And then, a bit like athletes in the morning, we must have slept well and be very concentrated. When we finally manage to achieve a good result, we are still quite happy!“
