Why is endometriosis research lagging behind? Understand in three minutes

Endometriosis affects between 1.5 million and 2.5 million women of childbearing age in France, or about one in ten French women. Despite these figures, a woman waits ten years on average for a diagnosis to be made: a significant delay given the list of disabling symptoms that the disease causes (pain, digestive problems, chronic fatigue, etc.).

In January 2022, the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, announced the launch of a national strategy to fight endometriosis. More than a year later, the pathology remains denied by some, or misunderstood, despite growing media coverage. The lack of training of doctors and, more broadly, the lack of knowledge about this disease reinforce this fact.
