Whether they turned to Mélenchon or took refuge in abstention, young people concerned about the environmental issue shunned Yannick Jadot last Sunday. Beyond a useful vote, it is also the too smooth and not radical enough campaign on the social level of the ecological candidate who did not convince.

At the climate march last Saturday, seven figures of the climate generation marched in dispersed order, but found themselves on their choice: none showed their support for Yannick Jadot. Five of them preferred to put forward the candidacy of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, like Hugo Viel, collaborator of the ecologist deputy Matthieu Orphelin. Exactly a year ago, this “club of 7” demonstrated every day in front of the National Assembly to challenge the deputies on the climate law. Some admit it: they preferred Jadot, “natural candidate of political ecology” but, “given the urgency”they chose the “better placed”. The result of the candidate EE-LV for the presidential will have proven them right, landing at 4.6% of the vote, against 22% for Mélenchon.
