Windows 11’s December Update is causing many users’ Wi-Fi to slow down significantly, or simply stop working. The bug mainly affects a specific sector.
Whether we like it or not, it is essential to update Windows 11 and other versions. This brings to the “worst” of bug fixes and security vulnerabilities more or less serious, at best new features. Doing it quickly becomes necessary, even though we know that it can also cause its share of problems. The latest one renamed all users’ printers to HP LaserJet M101-M106, triggering some issues. Microsoft has also recognized its share of responsibility in the story.
The December update, numbered KB5033375is more annoying. It slows down the Wi-Fi to the point that it becomes unusable, or even completely prevents you from connecting to it. This bug was actually spotted before, in the optional update KB5032288, but he seems to have “survived”. For one user, simple pings to Google fail half the time, with the others resolving after a significant delay. There is one however common point between all those affected.

The vast majority of structures experiencing Wi-Fi problems after the latest Windows 11 update are universities. This made it possible to detect a constant: the wifi card used, a Qualcomm QCA61x4a. A fairly old model still common.

This is indeed the most effective solution to overcome the problem while waiting for Microsoft to remedy it. It also seems possible to reconnect to Wi-Fi by disabling the 802.11r standard from his computer. All we have to do is wait for a global fix.
