As efficient, useful and luxurious as some Apple Watches are, it cannot be said that they offer an optimal user experience. Apple still hasn’t managed to find the ideal interface that would allow you to use the connected watch without even having to think about it. Since 2015, the year the first Apple Watch was marketed, Apple has continued to modify the interface of its connected watch. Slowly but surely, widgets were abandoned in favor of physical navigation with the crown, notifications and apps. With watchOS 10, Apple is therefore stepping back and placing widgets at the very heart of navigation. Moreover, the layout and display of the cards will change automatically depending on the time of day and your activity.

As Me Eadicicco points out, if “the digital crown can make browsing more natural since you don’t hide the screen with your finger, finding the app you need can be tedious if you have a long list to go through. In this sense, widgets offer a suitable interface. Indeed, just swipe on the screen to bring up different screens of widgets. This instinctive gesture, in conjunction with the use of the crown, should greatly make everyday use of the Apple Watch easier.
Keeping in mind that smartwatches can’t be all-purpose devices, then widgets are a great way to quickly accomplish simple tasks: start a fitness session, add an item to the shopping list, or start a timer. Access to the Control Center is also simplified, since all you have to do ispress once on the edge of the Apple Watch to display the essential parameters of your watch.
