Most recently it became known that Willi Herren’s burned potato fritters food truck is to be rebuilt. Now this will not happen after all.

Shortly after the death of the actor and singer Willi Herren (1975-2021), the previously opened food truck, the “Rievkoochebud”, burned down completely. Desiree Hansen-Schmitz and Jörg Hansen, Herren’s former business partners, announced in mid-May that they wanted to restart the potato cake project. As they have now announced on Instagram, but nothing will come of it.

There have been numerous meetings and discussions over the past two weeks. The dream of a reopening was “within reach” and one was “already very far”, but the “Rievkoochebud 2.0” will not open again. The two had received “a lot of offers and support” when it came to organizational matters, but there was also “a lot of hatred” that hit them. This strongly influenced the decision to end the project.

“We will carry you in our hearts forever”

It is clear to them that gentlemen have “not only had friends but, above all, a lot of envious people”. They end the post on Instagram in memory of the deceased: “Willi, we will carry you in our hearts forever.”

The Instagram account of the “Rievkoochebud” is to be closed on May 28th. It has not yet been clarified why the food truck burned down. Herren had presented the project just a few days before his death in April.
