Insiders in the Release Preview channel now have access to a new build of Windows 10 21H2: 19044.1947.
While this new update, labeled KB5016688, is not a security update, it does contain improvements, especially in terms of preventing cyberattacks, for businesses.
New in business
Starting with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Microsoft explains in a blog post that its new features will allow it to better “identify and intercept ransomware and advanced attacks”.
Defender for Endpoint enhancements, including improved ransomware detection and interception, were rolled out earlier this month in a Windows preview for the beta channel. Microsoft did not give any details on these changes at the time.
The new build of Windows 10 21H2 also allows IT administrators to add languages, or language-related features, remotely. The latter will also be able to manage the linguistic scenarios on all the terminal managers.
Windows 10 22H2 in preview
On July 28, Microsoft released the first preview of Windows 10 22H2, the next Windows 10 feature update, in the Release Preview channel.
This build is “focused on service technology validation,” according to Microsoft, and it has “a well-delineated feature set.”
However, the software giant did not provide more details on the features or fixes provided by this new version: “Microsoft will provide more information on this update later this year. His availability date also remains unknown.
Fixes
Regarding fixes, the new build of Windows 10 21H2 fixes vulnerabilities affecting Microsoft Edge’s IE mode, but also issues with subscription activation, game installation and Windows Hello for Business certificate generation.
Bugs on virtualized Office App-V applications and BitLocker performance issues have also been fixed.
Finally, the new build fixes rare cases where the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) stops working on Active Directory domain controllers.
