A new bug has been discovered on Windows 11
and on the latest versions of Windows 10
when resetting the system.
The problem ? Checking the “Delete all data” option during a restore would obviously not erase all the data.
The solution ? Sign out of OneDrive
The issue has been identified by Microsoft over the past month. When you want to restore your Windows system, you have the choice between keeping your data or deleting it from your disk. The bug would concern locally synchronized OneDrive files which would not be deleted during the restoration, even with the option chosen.
Even if this bug is not very serious in appearance, it could complicate the life of computer technicians during remote PC resets, if confidential files were not to be completely erased.
Microsoft’s temporary solution to this setback is to disconnect your OneDrive account or desynchronize your cloud-related data before restoring.
The versions affected by this bug are: Windows 11 version 21H2, and Windows 10 versions 21H2, 21H1 and 20H2.
