The manufacturer Bitdefender has a good reputation for anti-virus solutions. So far you have been able to use the tool in a free version under Windows 10. But that will soon be over, because the free version will be discontinued from December 31st.
The developer has now officially announced this on its own website. The links to download the free version have also been removed.
However, that’s not quite the ultimate end to using it without paying. Users who already have the version or who have downloaded it in other ways can still use it up to June 30, 2022 to use.
Why is the service being discontinued?
Reasons for action were also given on the developer’s website. According to Bitdefender, the free version is being discontinued as part of its “ focus on product development for cross-platform protection ”. This probably indicates that the developer would like to expand his own portfolio and would like to use the capacities of the free service. Users of this version should receive an email with a discounted offer for the paid version by the end of the year, according to Bitdefender.
