The recently launched File Explorer update in Windows 11 seems to have spawned a curious bug that causes the app to open randomly.
Microsoft is said to be already at work in order to provide users with a fix.
Windows 11 22H2, the first major update
Deployed from September, the Windows 11 22H2 update introduced many new features and fixed multiple bugs. But, like any operating system, Windows must constantly be updated, and new bugs appear regularly. Recently, new features have been integrated by Microsoft, and the ability to create tabs in File Explorer has arrived with the KB5019509 update. This feature is very practical, especially when you regularly use Explorer and search for several folders or files at the same time.
Problem, this new version sometimes seems to do as it pleases. Many users of the Feedback Hub, which provides direct feedback to Microsoft, have reported that the app opens randomly when using another program. None of the comments seem to have discovered what causes this unexpected appearance, which occurs during navigation as well as during meetings on Zoom or a game of video game.
A problem that should quickly disappear
This unwanted appearance of File Explorer in the foreground, which can occur even when it’s not running, should soon disappear, according to Windows Latest. The sources of the site indeed claim that this problem is known, that Microsoft is aware of it and that the technicians are already working on a fix. However, the Redmond firm has not yet publicly announced the thing, so we should remain cautious.
Either way, the ability to open tabs in File Explorer was highly anticipated by users, who felt that Windows was lagging behind its competitors in this regard. Beyond that, the Explorer has been the victim of many small problems since the deployment of version 22H2 of Windows 11, causing a form of frustration among users. In addition, Microsoft would have planned to deploy three big updates during the year 2023. The first would arrive in February or March, the second in May and the third during the fall.
