Windows 11: Microsoft accidentally teases Moment 2, the next big update

While 22H2 is just beginning to be installed on compatible PCs, Windows 11 will certainly have another big update from the beginning of 2023. Called Moment 2, from the name of these updates which now complete the annual updates, this one made an appearance by mistake during a Microsoft promotional video.

We explained it to you at the start of the school year: from now on, Windows 11 will be entitled to more regular updates, which will add new features throughout the year. We will of course find the traditional annual updates. What changes is that these will now be accompanied by less substantial updates, but still bring their share of new features. This is particularly the case of 22H2, which brings in particular the tabs in the file explorer.

So that’s it for Moment 1, but what about Moment 2 ? Well, it shouldn’t take long to arrive, according to a recent indiscretion on the part of Microsoft. Indeed, the Redmond firm has published a long video on YouTube channel dedicated to the Insider program, which presents the features to come on Windows 11. However, we notice at a certain passage the name of the build, namely: Windows 11 preview build 23003.ni_moment_directdash_dev1.221018-160.

Windows 11 Moment 2 will arrive in early 2023

We already knew that Windows 11 would be entitled to a new big update for the beginning of next year. It is therefore now confirmed with this build, which turns out to be linked to Moment 2. Of course, the version presented in the video is far from being final, so Insiders and, de facto, the general public will see a completely different facet of the updateonce deployed on their PC.

For now, it’s hard to say exactly what features Moment 2 will bring. However, we already know some of the new features that Microsoft is preparing for its operating system. Some of them could therefore be included in the list. Thus, it seems very likely that the update will be focused on optimized for touch screensthanks for example to the new display of widgets and the taskbar.
