The latest preview version of Windows 11 brings some significant visual changes, as well as a new look to the Your Phone app.
Windows 11, released to users on October 5, brought a major but incomplete overhaul to the Windows user interface (UI), with new widgets and Start menu designs.
Microsoft has just released Windows 11 Insider Preview build 22533 to the Dev channel, one more step to revamp the design of Windows UI and its key apps.
New calling experience
Since the release of Windows 11, preview builds in Microsoft’s Dev and Beta channels have shown how the company is bringing the look of its apps in line with the new operating system, especially for Office apps and very classic apps like the notebooks, which now have dark themes, rounded window corners, refreshed icons, and new opaque backgrounds.
The “Windows Inbox” app category has also been refreshed in Windows 11, including the new media player, calculator, snipping tool, and Photos, Mail, and Calendar apps. Microsoft also tested more pinning choices in the Start menu.
Build 22533 brings mobile-inspired updates to settings users adjust with hardware keys, such as brightness, volume, camera privacy, on/off status camera and airplane mode. These indicators appear at the top of the taskbar and above the system dark or light theme settings.
Again, these visual updates are intended to “align with Windows 11 design principles,” say Windows Insider program managers Amanda Langowski and Brandon LeBlanc.
There is also a new call experience for the Your Phone app on Windows 11. Your Phone is a functional bridge between Android (primarily Samsung Galaxy phones) and Windows 11. Dev channel users will see a new ongoing call, as well as other design changes inspired by Windows 11.
Other changes in this preview build include the ability to find voice access from the taskbar, pin voice access to that bar or the Start menu, and toggle voice access on or off. voice access.
