Windows 11: soon a new way to access photos from your Android smartphone

Soon, it will be much easier to find and modify an image from an Android device directly on Windows 11.

Since its launch, the Windows 11 Connected Mobile tool allowing you to access content and interact with your Android device has made significant progress (interface, stability, speed, etc.). But, soon, the connection between the two environments will be even more practical and direct, particularly in terms of image management. For the moment, the most impatient Insiders can test the new feature in question here via build 23619. Others will have to wait for an update via Windows Update.

Instantly access your photos on PC

Concretely, Windows 11 will be able to display a notification as soon as a new photo or screenshot is detected on the Android device connected to the operating system. Clicking on this notification will open the image in the Screenshot tool for editing on the fly. Microsoft specifies that this tool replaces remote capture with Connected Mobile announced last September.

To enable or disable this feature, you will need to go to Windows settings. Direction Bluetooth and devices > Connected mobile, and choose “Manage devices”. The page, updated with the latest builds, then offers whether or not to activate this notification system.

Some other changes

Microsoft has slipped other elements into this build 23619. We will therefore note the addition within the start menu, in the “Recommended” area, of an insert for the Teams meeting on the nearest deadline. The button, which appears 5 minutes before the meeting starts, makes it easy to join. This addition only concerns users logged in on Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise with a Microsoft Entra account.

Finally, the File Explorer should be a little faster at launch, while a few bugs and crashes have also been fixed.
