Windows 11 users are reporting more problems after installing a Western Digital NVMe. It is apparently a driver problem. We tell you what you can do.

If you use an SSD memory instead of an HDD, you usually expect better performance. Not so with the Black SN850X from Western Digital, because Windows 11 users are currently reporting more and more fatal system crashes and the dreaded “Blue Screen of Death.”
As Neowin reports, it seems to be mostly a firmware issue that is responsible for the frozen or crashed PCs. According to the current state of knowledge, there is no risk of data loss.
Alternative driver packages as a workaround
Because those affected report in the support forums and on Reddit that the device software automatically installed by the Windows 11 driver management is likely to be the culprit. It’s simply outdated.
According to experience reports from the Western Digital forum, it has often helped to install a more up-to-date driver from another manufacturer. A driver package from Samsung has a good chance of success. We tell you how to install a driver in the linked instructions.
Western Digital is aware of the problem and says it is working on a firmware update. It is not yet clear when the patch will appear.
