Windows 11 Sun Valley 3: Microsoft is already preparing its 2nd major update

In full development of Sun Valley 2, Microsoft is already preparing the future Windows 11 update under the name Sun Valley 3.

Not a moment of respite for the Windows development teams when the PC market is in good shape (or almost). The launch of Windows 11 symbolized for Microsoft a renewed investment in one of its historical products.

We are now waiting for the first major update for the system under the code name Sun Valley 2. This launch should take place at the end of the year, and Microsoft has already prepared a lot of new features to accompany this new version of the system. But for Microsoft, we must also prepare for after 2022.

A Teams meeting that says too much

It is the WindowsLatest site which has put its finger on this little indiscretion from Microsoft. During a small webcast dedicated to members of the Windows Insider program, we can see a reference to “SV3”, for Sun Valley 3.

As can be seen in the image taken from this webcast, one of the PowerPoint documents offered by Microsoft Teams is titled “ SV3 Refined Investments Next Steps “. After Sun Valley, which delivered Windows 11 at the end of 2021, and Sun Valley 2, which is scheduled for deployment at the end of 2022, we can easily assume that Sun Valley 3 will arrive at the end of the year 2023.

The fact that Microsoft is continuing to codename Sun Valley for these updates means that it won’t be a break from what Windows 11 offers today, but rather a continuation. As seen in Sun Valley 2, we can expect progress in redesigning the interface and adding new handy features.

Impossible to project for the moment on the new features expected for Sun Valley 3. Windows 11 currently focuses mainly on working from home, in the era of teleworking, with a more advanced integration of Microsoft Teams and the Cloud PC, or even help by AI. It will be interesting to see if 2023 will be the year of novelties on the video game side, since we will celebrate the three years of the launch of the Xbox Series, a good time to refresh its product range.

One thing is certain, Microsoft’s investment in its operating system should continue well in the months to come.
