Windows 11: that’s it, the file copy is repaired!

Among the small problems brought by the 22H2 version of Windows 11that of copying large files is (finally) fixed.

This weight concern, present for several months now, has finally found a fix with the optional update KB5022913 (Moment 2).

A weight problem that took a “Moment” to be corrected

Version 22H2 of Windows 11 definitely brought its share of problems, between a poorly functioning task manager and lackluster in-game performance. Among the particularly annoying issues associated with this major update, copying large files has become very slow.

Many users (especially in companies, but not only…) have indeed reported that this process had the unfortunate tendency to take up to twice as long as before the switch to Windows 11 22H2. Aware of this weight problem, Microsoft has deployed a patch for a few months that is accessible to members of the Windows Insider program.

Better late than never, ordinary mortals will finally be able to enjoy it with the arrival of the March cumulative update, scheduled for Tuesday the 14th to come. It is also possible to enjoy it now by downloading an optional update.

Called KB5022913, this optional kernel update, which you can download via the anchor link above or via the link cited in source below, intends to correct the problem of slow copying of large files.

Several users who have installed this update report a marked improvement in this area. If it is already possible to correct the problem by downloading the update alone, it is an early “preview” version.

To be on the safe side (if such a thing exists on Windows 11), it might be safer to wait for the cumulative update which arrives and will be rolled out on Tuesday, March 14. If, however, you experience slow copying of files that is intolerable to you, a “relatively” stable patch is there to (finally) remedy this problem, which has been present for months.
