Windows 11: the new Bing, boosted with AI, arrives in the taskbar

The new Bing is evolving at full speed: extended chat limits, new integration with Skype, availability of the Bing mobile app, and even the addition of voice search. And now this AI-powered Bing will have a new home, on the Windows 11 taskbar.

On Monday, Microsoft announced it was taking a “big step forward” by adding a Bing search box to Windows, putting the new Bing’s capabilities front and center on the OS’s taskbar.

If you’re one of the one million users who got early access to the new Bing, all you need to do to experience Windows integration is install the latest Windows 11 update. haven’t gotten this early access yet, you can either join the waitlist or wait patiently for the update to become more widely available.

“The search field is one of the most used functions of Windows, with more than half a billion users each month. Now, with the new Bing with artificial intelligence, you will be able to find the answers you are looking for, faster than ever,” argues Panos Panay, product manager at Microsoft.

Although Microsoft hasn’t revealed an exact date for the rollout of this new feature, the tech giant says that hundreds of millions of Windows 11 users will soon have access to the new Bing taskbar. This could indicate an upcoming expansion of the new version of Bing.

Another major Windows 11 update is Phone Link for iOS, which is currently in preview. Thanks to Phone Link, iOS users will be able to synchronize their smartphone with their Windows 11 browser and never miss a message or a call, including with iMessage. Phone Link has been available for Android smartphones for quite some time, this update brings a few features to optimize that experience as well.
