An optional update from Microsoft for Windows 11 causes problems for users of Trend Micro’s antivirus software. Once installed, protection against ransomware attacks, among other things, will no longer run.

As Trend Micro reports, there are compatibility errors after installing the KB5014019 update. The driver is affected User mode hookingwhich is used by the following programs.

  • Apex One 2019
  • Worry-Free Business Security Advanced 10.0
  • Apex One as a Service 2019
  • Deep Security 20.0
  • Worry-Free Business Security Services 6.7

Trend Micro is working to resolve the issue. Customers are advised to avoid the optional update for the time being, and those affected are advised to uninstall the patch to maintain system protection.
