Emmanuel Macron will present his wishes to the French this Sunday evening at 8 p.m., to be followed live on Europe 1. The Head of State will take stock of the past year and look forward to next year, marked among other things by the European elections and the Olympic Games. The president begins 2024 with the desire to relaunch his five-year term.
After a year marked by the difficult adoption of the pension reform, the riots in July or the tumultuous immigration sequence at the end of the year, Emmanuel Macron should send a message of unity to the French and try to open a new page in 2024.
Restore momentum to his mandate
The year should thus begin with a reshuffle within the government, with its share of unknowns, starting with the retention or not of Elisabeth Borne at Matignon. The head of state could also give suggestions for major reforms to come. The text on the end of life should in particular be part of it and could be debated next year in Parliament.
2024 will also be a year of major international events for Emmanuel Macron, culminating in the Olympic Games. It will be a few weeks after the European elections, where the National Rally is currently the favorite.
Hence the desire for the Head of State to give new impetus to his mandate. He will have the opportunity to clarify the contours of this new course during the meeting with the Nation, announced in December and which could take the form of a speech delivered in the coming weeks.
