The government has just announced the allocation of an additional envelope in order to create more terminals intended for recharging electric cars.

Last May, France finally reached the government objective of 100,000 electric car charging stations available throughout France. A first step which should be an incentive to build more and more of this essential equipment for the electrification of our car fleet. So, to push even further for the creation of new terminals, the government announces the implementation of a new budget.

200 million euros released

Not so long ago, by 2030, there could be 13 million electric vehicles crisscrossing the country. And as thermal engines need gasoline, these 21st century vehicles must be constantly replenished with electricity, thanks to charging stations. So to accelerate the movement and provide infrastructure to reach this figure, the government is putting in place funding.

This means 200 million euros have just been released by the government. It must be said that the objective is ambitious, since the country currently has 110,000 terminals, a figure which should increase to nearly 400,000 in 2030.

We need more fast charging stations

The honorable figure of more than a hundred thousand terminals in fact hides certain disparities. Currently, only 10% of these are fast charging stations. The objective of the budget released by the executive is in particular to make it possible to increase the share of these particular terminals in the total electrical terminals.

The government also wants to increase the number of home electrical terminals in the country. These terminals are particularly useful for people who do not live near charging stations, and can therefore equip themselves with an electric vehicle despite being far from their home.
