Used to entry-level / mid-range products, JVC takes it up a notch with the HA-S100N: an active noise-canceling Bluetooth headset that intends to work on the beds of its competitors, notably the WH-1000XM4.
JVC HA-S100N
Introductory price 300 €
A new competitor is entering the arena, and he intends to make a place for himself among the best nomadic headsets on the market: the HA-S100N. Its creator, who is none other than the JVC brand, therefore seeks to heckle Sony or even Bose with a brand new high-end model, which brings together all the components expected in a product of this type: circumauricular design, foldable, compact, light (270 g), imitation leather pads, hard storage case, touch controls, active noise reduction, listening mode for surrounding noises, wireless connection via Bluetooth, wired use via mini-jack … the fundamentals are well there.
The HA-S100N puts a few “specifics” forward, so to speak, the most notable being the possibility of using the headphones directly in USB (96 kHz / 24 bits) via its USB-C connector. The newcomer also displays support for the aptX HD codec (in addition to the aptX, AAC and SBC codecs), compatibility with Google Assistant and Google Fast Pair, as well as the ability to set the level of active noise reduction to two. intensity levels. Sound reproduction is supported by two 40mm speakers. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide more technical information on the acoustic design of the headphones. It is further unclear whether a companion mobile application is offered to personalize the use and listening experience provided by the headset.
Given its technical data sheet and what its direct competitors can offer, the HA-S100N will have a lot to do to stand out. Especially since it does not benefit from the strong argument of an attractive selling price, since it is launched at the price of 300 €.
