If Nanoleaf made itself known with its luminous and connected panels to be fixed to the wall, the company has since expanded its catalog by launching panels for the ceiling, but above all a lighting kit for televisions and bulbs. And obviously, she doesn’t plan to stop there. Its catalog, which is ever closer to that of Philips Hue, includes two table lamps: Cono and Cup. They make up what Nanoleaf presents not as a range, but as a collection; the Smart Lamp collection to be precise. A term more commonly used in the artistic world, but which is justified by a collaboration with a design studio called Umbra.
Practical and Matter compatible lamps
These lamps are therefore not only the product of Nanoleaf. From the latter, they mainly inherit LED technologies for lighting (RGBW for 16 million colors up to 130 lumens for the Cono and 320 lumens for the Cup) and Bluetooth and Thread technologies for remote control. The lamps are controlled from the manufacturer’s mobile application, but also from applications from Google, Amazon or Apple or by means of voice commands via a Matter hub.
The design, logically, was entrusted to Umbra, which in both cases sought to combine practicality and aesthetics. The Cono lamp takes the shape of a cone, hence its name, whose tip extends into a cross allowing it to be easily taken and placed horizontally or vertically, according to needs, since This is a portable lamp. It is also equipped with a battery supposed to offer up to 5 hours of lighting away from power outlets, and is recharged via USB-C. On Cup’s side, the objective was rather not to completely lose the space taken up by the lamp, which is not intended to move regularly. So no battery here, but a hollow base like a cup to store small objects. It also has a USB output to charge a smartphone for example.
