With Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess, Capcom is full of excitement

Video game publishers tend to be a little cautious and often prefer to develop remastersof the remakes or sequels to sagas already known and appreciated. New licenses are not that numerous, especially those that take risks. The announcement of the new game from Capcom Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess is therefore good news for lovers of new challenges. And the one that awaits the player promises to be original. Indeed, Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess is a mix of action and strategy that also seems to be inspired by Pikmin that of Kingdom Two Crownsor a major title from the Japanese studio, the fabulous Okami.

Multiple influences

Mount Kafuku is infested by evil spirits, the Seethes, and the heavy task of purifying the place falls to Soh, a warrior whose mission is also to escort the priestess Yoshiro. Both will have to combine their efforts to liberate the different villages of Mount Kafuku and rally the inhabitants to their cause.

And they will not be alone, because the villagers can be recruited to help Soh and Yoshiro carry out their mission by becoming soldiers, archers… The recruitment phases will take place during the day and it will be necessary to defend the villages at night , when the Seethes sweep over the villages. Soh will be called upon because of his mastery of blades, but will also have to lead his troops to make his task easier: it is therefore difficult not to think about Kingdom Two Crownswhich offers a similar day-night cycle.

A unique achievement

If the gameplay elements may remind gamers of a few games, the production turns out to be quite unique with a very particular character design. While the very detailed “human” protagonists remain relatively classic, the Seethes’ bestiary is inspired by yokai, the famous Japanese spirits, which may surprise players unfamiliar with this pantheon. The decorations are not to be outdone and risk disorienting more than one person, if only because of the architecture of the different sanctuaries or the natural, very organic elements.
