Russia does notdon’t expect changestowards the best in its relations with the United Kingdom, at their lowest since the end of the Cold War, with the election of Liz Truss as British Prime Minister, assured Tuesday September 6 the spokesman of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov. “If we judge by the declarations of Mrs Truss, made when she was still Minister of Foreign Affairs (…), we can say with great certainty that we should not expect changes for the better“, declared Dmitry Peskov, quoted by the official agency TASS.
Liz Truss is known for her hard line towards Russia, which she calls a country “aggressor“, in particular because of the Russian offensive in Ukraine in progress since February 24. Since the start of this Russian military operation, relations between Russia and the West have been going through a crisis worthy of a new Cold War.

Ukraine has received support from Western capitals, including London, in the form of diplomatic support and arms deliveries, while Russia has been imposed unprecedented Western sanctions.
