With the Live Flex, JBL wants to compete with the AirPods (3rd generation)

JBL continues to release headphones true-wireless at a frantic pace. Here are the Live Flex which stand out for their open format called “button”, or “open fit”. They are therefore devoid of earmolds, which should allow them to provide optimal comfort, without marked intrusion into the auditory canal. By adopting this format, JBL’s objective is clear: come and nibble market share from Apple and its AirPods (3rd generation).

Despite this open format, JBL has curiously equipped its Live Flex with an active noise reduction feature. A more than questionable choice when you know the poor performance of Huawei’s FreeBuds 4 in this area. JBL seems aware of the problem, however, stating: “our research has shown the popularity of headphones without ear tips, although noise reduction is less effective with this format”. Odd…

True to form, the brand has loaded its headphones with features of all kinds. Let’s mention Personi-Fi 2.0, to create a personalized equalization profile, or even compatibility with JBL’s spatialization function. In addition, the Live Flex embed 12 mm speakers and are equipped with 6 microphones in total. They are compatible with Bluetooth 5.3, the multipoint function, and are ready to welcome the new features of the recent Bluetooth LE Audio standard.

The Live Flex promise up to 8 hours of autonomy and their case would allow 4 additional charges in addition to being compatible with the Qi charging standard.

The Live Flex are already available at a price of €179.99.
