With the Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT, AMD announces that its line-up is “complete”

Indeed, in the discussion quoted by VideoCardzvice president and general manager of the graphics division at AMD, returned to the future of the RDNA 3 range with a few clear words: “ The RDNA 3 portfolio is now complete. With the exception of the RX 7900 GRE, primarily designed for the Chinese market, this portfolio therefore consists of five cards, from the pioneering RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX to the smallest, the RX 7600, including the two new ones, the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT.

Five cards and then gone?

As clear as it may seem, Scott Herkelman’s answer is still quite surprising, in more ways than one. Firstly because RDNA 3 is still very recent, it is only 9 months old.

AMD certainly does not have the same tendency as NVIDIA to multiply the references, but in the past, Radeon RX 6×50 have for example been launched to refresh RDNA 2. Would AMD already prohibit this possibility? Unless Scott Herkelman speaks only of a “basic portfolio”, reserving the possibility of proposing refreshes in a few months?

We can also ask the question of the mobile while, for the moment, AMD has been very reasonable in this segment, with four variants of the Navi 33 GPU (RX 7600S, RX 7600M, RX 7600M XT and RX 7700S). Does this mean that we will never see mobile versions for the Navi 31 and Navi 32, or did Scott Herkelman deliberately leave out a whole section of the graphics card market in his answer?
