Indoor vegetable gardens have been on the rise for a few years and the Korean LG seems to have made a specialty of these devices. After lifting the veil on Column Garden two years ago, the manufacturer returns to CES 2022 with Tiiun.
From the smallest start-ups (Ready to grow, Home Vegetable garden …) to the biggest names in household appliances (Bosch, Miele …), many of them are interested in indoor vegetable gardens and even have this type of equipment has already been marketed. We have to believe that in Korea, we fully believe in this concept since LG, one of the flagship companies of the Land of the Morning Calm, has just unveiled Tiiun at CES 2021, two years after Column Garden , also presented at the American show. This attraction of LG for indoor vegetable gardens is not very surprising since the company develops devices that allow to maintain a stable temperature and humidity (refrigerators for example) and others specializing in air treatment ( air purifiers), all of which must be mastered to facilitate plant growth.
Moreover, the manufacturer specifies that the humidity and temperature in the enclosure are maintained at extremely precise levels thanks to LG’s Inverter compressor, a component found in its refrigerators in particular. Of course, the brightness has also been particularly worked and the light sources reproduce the natural cycle of a day. Last but not least, the plants inside Tiiun are watered automatically eight times a day, with careful monitoring of indoor humidity.
According to the visuals, Tiiun has a control panel placed behind the door, at the top. However, for more convenience, you can also connect the vegetable garden to a smartphone equipped with the Korean’s ThinQ mobile application. It should be much easier to regulate the temperature in the enclosure or the humidity level with it. In addition, it is very likely that advice will be distilled through the application and that the latter will send notifications at key moments of the shoot (when it is time to harvest for example) or when it is time to maintain the plant. appliance or fill the water tank.
Tiiun comes in the form of a 60 cm high box which is reminiscent of wine cellars, since it too has a glazed facade. Behind it, no wooden shelf but two planting levels; each of them can accommodate six packets of seeds, variegated or not. Ten holes are drilled on each pack to allow the stems to grow without having to go through any film. The manufacturer promises a first harvest in 4 to 8 weeks. Note that if Tiiun can accommodate aromatic herbs and leafy vegetables useful in cooking, it is also capable of growing flowers.
Also for aesthetic purposes, Tiiun will be available in white and dark green. At this time, the release date and launch price are not known.
