Withings has just presented the U-Scan, “the first connected non-invasive urine analysis laboratory at home”. The device is placed in the toilet bowl and allows you to practice yourself, on a daily basis, an examination of this fluid which reflects our state of health.
Withings took advantage of CES 2023 to present the U-Scan. This gadget will allow you to look into the composition of your urine. For the company’s engineers, “with its 3000 metabolites, urine reflects our state of health particularly well. It gives immediate insight into the body’s balance, and can help detect and monitor a wide variety of health data.” Such an analysis is usually done by professionals. the U-Scan proposes to provide you with this data on a daily basisthrough the Cycle Sync and Nutri Balance mobile apps, in the comfort and privacy of your bathroom and without the risk of getting your fingers dirty.
The U-Scan consists of two parts. The first is the reader, a module in the form of 90 mm diameter roller on which you must send your jet. The second is an interchangeable cartridge incorporating capsules used to test specific biomarkers. Each one allows to carry out a hundred tests. Low-energy sensors determine who is urinating, which means the U-Scan is not shared. It is specific to a single user.

When you go to the bathroom for the small commission, aim for the device. A microfluidic circuit takes a sample of your precious fluid, analyzes it and sends the results to mobile applications. These will offer you advice, recipes and activities based on your goals and results in the areas of reproductive health, nutrition and hydration.

In Europe, the U-Scan will be sold for €499.95. Withings will offer a subscription system to obtain regular refills, but you can also buy Cycle Sync and Nutri Balance cartridges individually. Note that the commercial future of this product is still pending: it is not not yet approved by health authorities Europeans.
