Wolverine game images on PS5 leak after cyberattack on Insomniac Games

Hackers have hacked the Insomniac Games studio behind the PS5 game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Cybercriminals have published images of the next Wolverine game, as well as information on many other titles.

Insomniac Games, a famous video game studio, has been the victim of a cyberattack. Hackers from the Rhysida Ransomware group published a vast database on December 19, containing images, projects for numerous titles, as well as personal data of employees. The files now accessible to the general public include email exchanges about Spider-Man 2 and images from certain games, notably the future “Wolverine”. The cybercriminals demanded 50 bitcoins to keep all the data confidential, or around 1.9 million euros according to the latest price. Obviously, Insomniac Games refused to pay.

Marvel’s Wolwerine’s Future Costume Leaked

In the images revealed by Rhysida, we see the future costume of the game “ Marvel’s Wolwerine », the studio’s next flagship title. Insomniac would have a lot of expectations around this project since it aims to be awarded best game of the year in 2026 according to emails from company executives. We also learn that the studio is even preparing a new game Ratchet & Clank for 2029.

Rhysida Ransomware is a new group of cybercriminals, active since 2023. These hackers have already made some high-profile victims, such as in Martinique last June. Hackers cripple the victim’s computer system with ransomware, software that encrypts data, before demanding a ransom to unlock everything.

Of course, Numerama chose not to broadcast these first images.
