A dead woman was found after a fire in an apartment at Wankdorf train station in Bern. Another woman was taken to the hospital.
Lyn. In Bern, on Monday morning, there was a fire in an apartment in a block of flats near the Wankdorf train station. The emergency services found a lifeless woman there during the extinguishing work. This emerges from a media release from the Bernese cantonal police.
This was informed on Monday morning at 7 a.m. about a fire in a block of flats on Wankdorffeldstrasse in Bern. Heavy smoke was visible on the top floors.
When the emergency services entered the apartment to put out the fire, they found the lifeless woman. Only her death could be ascertained. The deceased has not yet been formally identified. But it should be a resident of the apartment.
A second woman, who also lived in the apartment, was able to leave the apartment on her own before the emergency services arrived. The ambulance team then took her to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
The public prosecutor’s office in Bern-Mittelland has started investigations into the circumstances and cause of the fire.
