Wonka: Does Timothée Chalamet eat real chocolates in the film?

Are the chocolates we see in “Wonka” real or due to movie magic? We asked Timothée Chalamet and director Paul King the question, and the answer may leave you as hungry as the film.

If Wonka made you hungry, it’s no coincidence. In the film released in theaters on Wednesday, December 13, the character played by Timothée Chalamet makes the most incredible chocolates, so each bite seems to enchant those who taste them.

To the point that you may have wondered if the chocolates we saw on the screen were real, or if they were sugar paste or some other subterfuge allowing you to multiply the shots without risking the liver crisis. Answer with the main stakeholders: the director and the actors of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel.

“We had our own master chocolatier on set: Gabriella Cugnowho is a true genius”Paul King tells us. “Everything that’s eaten in the movie is real chocolate. And it’s delicious. It’s as good as it looks, they’re incredible creations. Every Monday morning we started the week with a chocolate tasting, which I took very seriously.”

“It seemed very important to me that I tasted, heroically, what the actors were going to have to eat several times. And I gained around twenty kilos. So it was difficult to resist and I failed.

Unlike Hugh Grant: “There was a chocolatier on the set, but not for me, because I shot my scenes alone in a small studio”explains the one that digital tricks have shrunk and transformed into Oompa-Loompa.

“But for [les autres acteurs]it was a wonderful experience.”he continues, pointing to Timothée Chalamet, his neighbor during our interview. “He gained a lot of weight. It was a big problem. He was 250 pounds after two weeks, and they slimmed him down with special effects.”

So make sure you have eaten before discovering Wonka, otherwise you will hear your stomach singing like the actors on screen.
