Hugh Grant may be a movie star, but at the same time he also hates making movies. Accordingly, he was unhappy about playing an Oompa Loompa in “Wonka.”

In the 1990s, Hugh Grant was the king of romantic comedies – a position he never particularly liked. In the meantime, Grant can still be seen primarily in comedic roles, but in the films – and in interviews – he primarily embodies stinky boots and visibly thrives in them.
Grant doesn’t mince his words and is lucky that the audience usually finds his sometimes quite harsh comments amusing. Accordingly, Grant didn’t have to hold back at a recent press event for “Wonka” and was able to freely discuss the film.

Grant already worked with “Wonka” director Paul King in “Paddington 2,” but played a normal person in it. However, for his role as Oompa Loompa in “Wonka,” Grant had to be digitally reduced in size. In an interview with Metro, Grant described the camera device that was placed on his head as a “crown of thorns” and “very uncomfortable.”
I made a big fuss about it. I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more. I was unsure the whole time whether I should act with my body or not, and I never got a satisfactory answer.

When asked if the end justified the means, Grant replied “Not really”, although he had a lot of children and therefore needed the money. You can now see in the cinema whether Hugh Grant cuts a good figure as Oompa Loompa despite the rigors on set – unless you want to wait for “Wonka” in the stream.
