Two months after the liquidation, employees of the foundry of Decazeville in Aveyron were received by Bruno Le Maire in Paris. They are still calling on Renault and the State to help restart activity.
The speeches follow one another in front of the Ministry of the Economy, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. The employees of SAM, an Aveyron foundry liquidated in November, and their supporters recount their struggle, the betrayed promises, the solidarity. A few tens of meters behind them, officials of the ministry in costume walk quietly in the glass walkway which connects the two imposing buildings. In less than thirty minutes, a delegation from SAM will be received by Bruno Le Maire to talk about the future of the site. During this interview, the Minister said to himself “optimistic” about the “Revitalization of the basin with a lot of ongoing projects”. And determined to put pressure on Renault, according to the employees received, who are now waiting for written acts and commitments.
“We are not alone”
Leaving at 4:30 am, the foundry employees have driven nearly seven hours to reach the capital. They have been mobilized for 341 days. At the end of November, the Toulouse commercial court declared the factory liquidation. With in the balance: the dismissal of 333 people. The latter have decided on several actions, including the occupation of their site day and night.
