Lhe Atlas Lions were deprived of “two indisputable penalties” during the semi-final of the World Cup lost against France (2-0), estimates the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), which announced Thursday that it had seized ” competent body” to contest the arbitration. “The FRMF has sent a letter to the competent body in which it returns to the arbitration situations which deprived the Moroccan selection of two indisputable penalties, in the opinion of several arbitration specialists”, indicates the Moroccan Federation in a press release. .

The “competent body” seized by the FRMF is not named in this press release. During the World Cup, the French Federation (FFF) had for its part seized, in vain, the Fifa disciplinary committee to protest against the cancellation of the equalizing goal scored at the very end of the match by Antoine Griezmann against Tunisia and invalidated by VAR after the final whistle.

During the Morocco-France semi-final, the only warning of the meeting addressed to the Moroccan Boufal appeared severe, on a contact in the surface with the French Théo Hernandez, whose gesture may also appear poorly controlled. On another action, the Moroccan players felt that Tchouaméni had surrounded En-Nesery in the box.

The VAR did not “react”

The FRMF still claims to have “strongly protested” against the performance of the Mexican César Arturo Ramos and is surprised “that the video assistance system for arbitration (VAR) did not react to these arbitration situations”. The Moroccan Federation “will spare no effort to defend and preserve the rights of national selections by advocating fairness in arbitration and by denouncing these arbitration decisions taken during” this semi-final, is it still written.

38-year-old César Arturo Ramos, who had already officiated at the 2018 World Cup, refereed three other meetings in Qatar, including Morocco’s victory against Belgium (2-0).
