World Cup on the Reiteralm – Gantenbein and Dumont together in 3rd place – Sport

  • At the Ski Cross World Cup on the Reiteralm (AUT), Talina Gantenbein and Margaux Dumont reach the podium ex aequo.
  • In the men’s category, Alex Fiva narrowly missed the podium in fourth place.
  • The victories go to Brittany Phelan (CAN) and Youri Duplessis Kergomard (FRA).

A strange scene in the women’s final meant that both Swiss women, Talina Gantenbein and Margaux Dumont, were on the podium – both in 3rd place. After a weak start, the teammates didn’t give each other anything away on the slopes. This ultimately led to Gantenbein falling and Dumont missing a goal at the same point.

In the final results this meant: 3rd place for the two Swiss women. While Gantenbein is on the podium for the sixth time in the World Cup (always in third place), Dumont was in the final for the first time and made it straight to the podium. At the front, Brittany Phelan (CAN) took her first World Cup victory, Marielle Berger Sabbatel (FRA) took 2nd place.

In the quarterfinal field, 6 of 16 athletes were from Switzerland. For Isabelle Zippert and Natalie Schär, this round was the end of the journey. Saskja Lack and Sistine Cousin made it further, but then had to be content with the small final. The Swiss were convincing there and achieved an excellent team result thanks to ranks 5 and 6.

Fiva in the final out

The men’s final also ended without a Swiss victory. Alex Fiva missed a goal while lying on course for the podium after being pushed. So in the end only fourth place came out. Youri Duplessis Kergomard (FRA) won ahead of Simone Deromedis (ITA) and Terence Tchiknavorian (FRA).

The race in the quarterfinals ended bitterly for Jonas Lenherr. The Eastern Swiss, who was on the podium the day before, won his heat, but was disqualified afterwards. He probably scored one of the first goals. Marc Bischofberger and Alex Marro were already stuck in the round of 16.

This is how it goes

In this year’s Ski Cross World Cup there are only two stations left on the program: Veysonnaz and the Swedish Idre Fjäll. We continue in mid-March in Valais.
