It was becoming common, it will now be banned. Boost communities will no longer be tolerated in World of Warcraft, and players offering them will be penalized.
Indeed, after many complaints about the increase in communities offering their services in exchange for gold, Blizzard has finally reacted. Players could have their account suspended or even closed permanently.
To adapt to the impact of the various entities at work in World of Warcraft, we are compelled to update our policies to continue to ensure that the gaming experience is as fair and welcoming as possible. Since our last policy update, we have noticed an increase in annoyance caused by organizations over-promoting various non-traditional in-game services.
Effective immediately, we prohibit any organization offering ‘boosting’, ‘matchmaking’, escrow, or any other non-traditional services, including those offered in exchange for gold. World of Warcraft accounts that violate this policy are subject to penalties. These actions may include warnings, account suspensions, and if necessary, permanent closure of the harmful World of Warcraft account(s). Organizations operating on multiple realms and excessively promoting non-traditional in-game services are against the terms of Blizzard’s End User License Agreement (EULA).
This policy update is not intended to prevent players or guilds from using any in-game tools available to them to buy or sell in-game items or activities for in-game currency. engaging in “boosting”, and more particularly those which act on several realms, are now prohibited.
We urge all affected organizations to cease their activity in World of Warcraft immediately, so that they can continue to access the game.
Be careful, this new policy could suggest that no boosts are allowed anymore. Nevertheless, Blizzard puts a lot of emphasis on boost communities, i.e. accounts entirely dedicated to the latter. Since the introduction of the WoW token, the latter had continued to establish themselves in Azeroth, thus creating a lucrative market to the detriment of certain players.
With the announcement of cross-faction content and this boost war, Blizzard is definitely looking to restore its image and offer the best quality of play to its community.
