Two attentive neighbors probably prevented a major fire in an apartment building in the Tyrolean Mühlbachl (Innsbruck-Land district) on Christmas Day. An Advent wreath caught fire in one of the apartments. The men were able to put out the flames after breaking open the patio door.

At around 5:30 p.m., the Advent wreath, which was decorated with a battery-operated chain of lights, caught fire. “A neighbor heard the alarm of a smoke detector and noticed a burning smell. Together with another neighbor, the man went to look for the fire and finally saw the glow of the fire outside the building in the affected apartment, ”the police said. Glass door smashed with fire extinguisher The two men reacted immediately. “They smashed the glass of the patio door to the apartment with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire,” the investigators continued. The fire caused considerable property damage. Fortunately, no people were injured.
