At a time when a particularly large number of players are eagerly awaiting the Wrath of the Lich King Classic rollout, Blizzard has chosen to take one more step, or rather two, towards World of Warcraft’s second Classic expansion with the weekly maintenance for this Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The long-awaited deadline is approaching!
- Important : The WotLK Classic PrePatch is still not available on the “live” servers. Patience ! We still have good news to tell you about it in the second part of the article!
Closing servers on Burning Crusade Classic
As announced many weeks before, on June 7 precisely, a handful of kingdoms, both American and European, are definitively closing their doors on Burning Crusade Classic starting this Wednesday, August 10, 2022. All the characters who are there encore are automatically sent to a realm predefined by Blizzard, with this change taking effect upon the end of weekly maintenance and your next in-game login.
US servers merged
The overwhelming majority of the American kingdoms affected by these mergers are merged with the kingdom Sulfuras (PvP)a kingdom on the East Coast of the United States with a population overwhelmingly in favor of the Horde (99 to 1 approximately).
- Official press release from Blizzard (US)
Merged European Servers
The overwhelming majority of European kingdoms affected by these mergers are merged with the kingdom Mograine (PvP)an English-speaking kingdom with a population overwhelmingly in favor of the Horde (approximately 99 to 1).
- Official press release from Blizzard (EU)
The Pre-Patch Scourge Invasion is finally showing signs of (un)life!
If these mergers were expected as a first really concrete sign of the imminent arrival of the Wrath of the Lich King Classic PrePatch, it is especially the arrival of this one on the public test Kingdoms which could give serious hopes to many players desperately waiting for news of this update.
And justly ! Blizzard has finally announced the arrival of the Scourge Invasion on the PTR from this Wednesday, August 10, 2022 ! Players will be able to (re)try this fairly memorable event for the era in which it was released from 7:00 p.m. (Paris time).
If this first test does not indicate anything concrete about the deployment of the PrePatch, it intrinsically gives some elements which could suggest its arrival on our live servers in the coming weeks. At the earliest, we can therefore expect it from Wednesday August 17, 2022, but it is likely that Blizzard will choose to opt for at least one additional test phase of this event before officially deploying it, thus leading us to Wednesday 24 August 2022 in the best case.
TCG mounts and mascots in sight?
Finally, in a build of the PTR datamined early in the morning this Wednesday, August 10, 2022, our colleagues from Wowhead discovered some particularly interesting entities. It includes the following mascots and mounts:
- Bananas the Monkey
- the Ethereal Soul-Trader
- the Spectral Baby Tiger
- the rohart kite
- the dragon kite
- the Great Battle Bear
- L’Blazing Hippogriff
- the white woolly rhinoceros
- The X-51 Netherrocket
- The Netherrocket X-51 X-TREME
The presence of these pets and mounts in the game files is surprising to say the least since we already know from experience of the first two versions of WoW Classic that these objects are not available in game, including for card holders. ‘era. On the other hand, some of them have occasionally appeared in the form of promotional offers in exchange for 6 months of subscription to WoW… devilball for example !
What does this mean concretely? Nothing sure for the moment, nevertheless we can largely imagine that they could be objects planned for promotional offers to come over the expansion, like the very recent Tabard of Flames offered to players who subscribed for a period of 6 months last July. The promotional offer in question was also surprisingly very short since it was only available for one week…!
This is all purely speculative. One thing is certain: the Scourge Invasion will be testable tonight! From there, events should follow one another fairly quickly. Get ready: the fateful hour is approaching!
