After vanilla and Burning Crusadeit’s the turn of Wraith of the Lich King to arrive on Classic WoW. Indeed, the second extension of Blizzard’s MMORPG seems to be about to be unveiled since the WotLK logo has appeared in the database of official PTR servers (source in English).
Wraith of the Lich King soon on WoW Classic?
For many it was only a matter of time before Blizzard released a new expansion for WoW Classic. After the successful launch of Vanilla and Burning Crusade Classic, the American studio was not going to miss the most popular extension in the history of WoW.
As a reminder, Wraith of the Lick King peaked at more than 12 million subscribers around the year 2010. This figure, reproduced at the launch of Cataclysme, marked the absolute peak for the MMORPG. If subsequently, the bar of 10 million subscribers had been reached at the launch of the following extensions, this figure now seems very distant for WoW.
Thus, the return to Northrend could mark a new success in the history of WoW Classic, which continues to surf on the nostalgia of old expansions to gather a sizable community of players.
Although for the moment all this is still speculation, Blizzard should reveal the future of World of Warcraft to us during a special conference on April 19th. There, the studio will certainly present its plans around the release of WotLK and Dragonflight, the new extension of WoW.
Note that we anticipate a release date for Wraith of the Lich King on WoW Classic for the end of 2022 since Phase 5 of BC Classic will only be available around June 15. In the meantime, you can find all of our information and guides on our World of Warcraft portal.
