After vanilla and Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King will be the next expansion to be released on Classic WoW and we are talking here about the question of its release date. The second expansion of Blizzard’s MMORPG will therefore be back on World of Warcraft, to the delight of fans of the saga. As a reminder, WoTLK is the extension that marks the peak of the game’s popularity, with nearly 12 million subscribers.
Update : As of April 19, the official release date is only limited to 2022 at this time.
The main changes compared to the original WotLK
For now, the changes will be relatively limited. We will note :
- no dungeon finder
- personality via the barber, increased compared to LK
- Stepped patch output speed, like BC Classic
- an arena system via personal score rather than team
- the DK will be playable at level 58 from the prepatch
Wrath of the Lich King release date
For the moment, no precise release date has been officially announced. Blizzard only posted a “2022” at the end of the trailer to present a date. As such, we are anticipating a release around November 2022, to give Burning Crusade Classic players enough time to enjoy content around Sunwell. In addition, it will play on nostalgia since the WoTLK extension was released at the end of the year at the time.
