- The writers’ strike in Hollywood will probably end soon.
- The union and the studios have reached an agreement.
- The authors still have to agree to the solution.
“The Writers Guild of America” has reached an agreement with “The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers”. The writers’ strike will soon be over. After a five-day marathon negotiation, the parties reached an agreement. The agreement is valid for three years.
After 146 days, the screenwriters’ union and the studios have taken the decisive step towards themselves. The union demanded higher compensation and clear regulations when dealing with artificial intelligence. It is still unclear to what extent the demands are reflected in the agreement.
In five days it would have been the longest writers’ strike in history. But the work of the approximately 11,500 screenwriters will not resume immediately. The members of the authors’ association still have to agree to the agreement. At the last strike in 2008, 90 percent of the authors supported the solution found.
Not yet normal business in Hollywood
As a result of the agreement, the suspended late-night shows in particular could soon return to the TV program. Things are still not normal in Hollywood. The actors and actresses are still on strike. A rapprochement in this conflict is still pending.
